The hall on the second level is barely lit by the flickering torches, and there are doors along the sides that seem to be locked. It all makes me feel like Iâm somewhere Iâm not supposed to be.
According to her instructions, I was supposed to slip into the last door to the left, but when I rap my knuckles against its wooden exterior, Iâm met with only silence. Well, shit.
Iâm already about to give up when the door suddenly opens.
In the doorway, an enchanting figure appears, a gorgeous auburn-haired beauty in a green kirtle, her slim yet voluptuous form accentuated by hugging material. A dream if Iâve ever seen one.
âLeaving already?â Elizabella asks.
âI ⦠wasnât sure you were here.â
âSo you decided to run away at the first sign of trouble?â She shakes her head as she crosses her arms against her breasts. âNot what I would have expected from a man who kills kings.â
I scratch my head, feeling the heat in my face. âWell, thereâs a difference between fighting garvucks and accepting invitations from gorgeous young women.â
She arches a brow. âReally? How so?â
I swallow hard as I meet her gaze, "Because garvucks are predictable creatures.â
She raises her brows, impressed.
âYou, on the other hand,â I continue, âyouâre more mysterious, and that makes you far more dangerous than any demon or beast Iâve ever faced."
Our breath mingles in the doorway.
âCome!â She leads me inside the room and locks the door behind me, pressing her back against it to hold me in her gaze. âThere are many eyes in this place, and the last thing I need is for someone to see us. My father might be grateful that you saved his only daughter, but I doubt that gratitude would survive once he knew you were trying to defile her.â
âDefile you?â I ask in disbelief. âIt was you who invited me to join you here.â
âAnd you regret it?â
I take one glance at her soft cheeks and lush lips and feel all my power rush to my cock. âNot at all.â
âGood.â She makes her way toward the fireplace against the wall, reaching for the flint resting on the mantle place. Although the hallway outside is still dimly lit by the torches from downstairs, the room is barely lit by a few candles flickering on the mantle. In an instant, sparks fly into the hearth, igniting the tinder inside, and smoke suddenly rises from the pile, filling the air with the warming scent of burning wood.
She pulls her long auburn hair aside as she leans forward to blow on the growing flame, arching her back ever so slightly. âThere,â she says, âThat should do.â
Indeed, it does.
When she traipses back to me, I see the outline of her hips accentuated by the crackling flames behind her. As innocent as she is, I canât help but notice the glint of mischief in her eyes. She seems to notice my stare because she suddenly becomes suspicious. âWhat? Is this not the way you light your fires?â
Actually, not for the last couple hundred years.
